The most effective way to stop smoking is to take it one day at a time ; follow an exercise routine, even if it’s only walking, and find something to occupy you in idle moments. Many smokers agree that it’s not simply the craving for nicotine, but what to do with their hands when not working or alternatively occupied. Depending on your abilities, try sketching ( or just doodle drawing ) knitting, writing ; anything which keeps hands busy. Keeping a diary or book is a smart idea, as not only will it give your hands something to do, but you can keep an account of your progress ; how you felt, how complicated / easy the day had been, things you had to drink or eat and how they helped, and the like. Open with “I decided to stop smoking today” and on each day re-affirm your commitment to give up.

You’ll definitely need something to break or chew on during the day, so arm yourself with lots of healthy low-cal snacks : grapes and cherries are good, or cherry tomatoes ( anything small which you can pick at individually ) or sticks of celery are excellent, as not only will celery help calm cravings, but the body actually burns up calories while digesting it! So there is a double bonus in eating celery.

Steps To Quit Smoking: Winning Your Battle

There are many steps to quit smoking and you can successfully complete all of them if you know how  to overcome the ups and downs of quitting.   The first step you need to take is letting everyone know before hand that you’re going to stop smoking,  that way you can get the support of your family and friends and maybe even your co-workers so they won’t make the mistake of innocently inviting you out  for a smoke.

The other step is finding a support group of other people who are trying to quit smoking too.  You can find these groups locally,  there are also telephone groups and online chat groups.   This is an important step for several reasons,

1.  trying to kill a tough habit can be lonely,  it increases your chances of success if you’ know you’re not going it alone

2.  hearing about other people’s successes can give you the hope that you can do it too

3.  if anyone in your group is having a hard time,   offering them your encouragement can help strengthen not only their resolve but your own as well

4. if you backslide and take a smoke,  your support group will be there to help you get back on track

Between being irritable,  gaining weight,  feeling tired and suffering from re-occurring cravings you need to know what actions you can take to help yourself feel better and counteract all these negative side effects,  this is one of the other important steps to quit smoking.

Fight your cravings with healthy food choices and by reminding yourself,   mid craving,  why you want to quit smoking and that the craving will pass. You may gain some weight if your metabolism is affected by going cold turkey. To avoid this, try: eating your last meal by 6 p.m., drinking plenty of pure water and reducing your intake of sugary and fatty foods..

Your tiredness and irritability can also be lessened by your improved diet,  however you’ll need to get a bit more rest and relaxation in,  this will be the time to take a vacation or just take it easy.Practise yoga, learn breathing exercises or enjoy brisk walks around a scenic area..Reduce stress by identifying and avoiding negative triggers and taking relaxing herbal infusions like chamomile, valerian, lobelia and skullcap..

Getting advice from your doctor on other steps to quit smoking can also be a great help.

Detoxification That Kicks the Habit

Most people know that smoking is a habit that leads to early disease, including many life threatening illnesses. Unfortunately, what most people don’t know is how to quit smoking

With trying to quit, come the cravings, and for many people, the cravings lead them back to the habit. But, there is an easy way to eliminate the cravings and it has nothing to do with commonly talked about pills or patches. The way to remove those cravings is just to remove those addictive chemicals you’ve been putting into your body with cigarettes; this is done easily with body cleansing.

A body cleanse can entail colon and liver cleansing, both of which can remove large amounts of those chemicals from your body quickly. With those chemicals out of your body, your cravings will often disappear as well; this makes quitting much easier.

Drinking large amounts of fresh squeezed fruit and vegetable juices can also flush those cigarette toxins from your body, to help the detoxification process. A common way to use juices to quit smoking is simply to have a juice instead of a cigarette, each and every time the addictive craving arises. Often the flood of nutrition from fresh juices will immediately eliminate your craving, and get you back in the driver seat. Fresh juices can be used in this manner to quit smoking until all of your cravings are disappeared.

Although body cleansing is new for a lot people today, various forms of cleansing have been around for many centuries. In the Essene Gospel Of Peace, Christ was even recorded giving enema instructions and talking about problems of the body that occur without deep cleansing. Because of all of the known poisons in cigarettes, it’s easy to see that these toxic chemicals greatly accelerates the disease creation process and thus the need for body cleansing; thankfully cleansing can also help you quit.
